Abstract

Doxycycline is distinctly more active than tetracycline against anaerobes of all types in vitro. The in vitro data indicate that clinical trials with this compound in selected anaerobic infections are warranted. Comparisons of disc and plate dilution susceptibility have been carried out with doxycycline and tetracycline and regression lines have been plotted to provide standardized disc susceptibility tests.
